SAM Electronics GmbH (SAM) primarily concentrates its shipbuilding activities for the eastern German shipyards on the Rostock-Elmenhorst site on the subsidiary company STN Schiffselektrik GmbH & Co KG, which was founded in 1992.

The systems competence of STN Schiffselektrik GmbH & Co KG is based on the efficient and deep level of cooperation with SAM’s product fields and especially its own project management skills and project planning, design and production of electrical equipment for shipping, including cable installation, commissioning and the services that are part of this process.
Based on these, STN supplies all the necessary equipment and provides the appropriate specialist competence. We can prepare complete systems solutions and individual solutions for all shipping projects in the following fields:
- power generation and distribution
- electric drives and propulsion
- engineering operations for shipping/automation/control panels
- navigation and communications systems
- electrical installations
- commissioning
- service
This means that customers have the advantage that all the electrical engineering in the “ship system” comes from one source.
The main focus of STN’s portfolio is based on system-oriented project planning/ engineering, manufacturing low voltage switchgear and control panels, cable installations with its own subsidiary, MGS MONTAGE GMBH, and commissioning of all systems.
Reliability and quality are assured as the companies have a joint quality assurance management system, which is aligned with the company’s special operating conditions, according to ISO 9001:2000; certification has been provided by GLC (German Lloyd Certification).
